Avalon has always had a love for lighthouses and has dreamed of living in a lighthouse and writing a novel (with Andrew by her side to tend to the light). It was this dream and a passion for the sea, that attracted Avalon and Andrew to the Nelson Lighthouse Wedding Package for their wedding day. They contacted us, made their booking, and their planner, Kimberly, started to put together the arrangements.
When the time came, Avalon and Andrew travelled from Australia, and were joined by their invited guests on the Gourmet Sailing yacht. They made the journey across the Nelson harbour to the lighthouse on the Boulder Bank. It was there, on the foundations of the lighthouse, that celebrant Ron Schepers led Avalon and Andrew in making their marriage commitment to each other.
Access to the lighthouse is only available close to high tide, which on this day meant that Andrew and Avalon had their wedding later in the afternoon. This turned out to be a perfect time of the day as the skies were blue, the sea breeze had dropped and although still warm, the heat had gone out of the day. Their photographs looked stunning with the late afternoon light.
After the ceremony, some fun exploring the lighthouse and photos, the group moved back on board the Gourmet Sailing Yacht for the cutting of the cake and a gourmet meal together.
A smooth sail back to the port saw them disembark to enjoy some more drinks and celebrations in Nelson city.
Avalon and Andrew said about their day:
“We wanted to say a huge thank you for everything you all did in arranging our wedding and carrying it off on the day! The wedding was wonderful. We were very pleased. It was exactly what we wanted. I had approximately 3 guests tell me that it was the best / most interesting wedding they had ever been to.”
I am sure some great memories were created and it was a privilege to have helped put together Avalon and Andrew’s special day.
