Our locations are based in the Nelson region of New Zealand, and you can get to Nelson on a short domestic flight from Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, flying with Air New Zealand. In order to provide more flexibility for couples, we do not provide accommodation or transport once you are in Nelson other than what is covered under the locations. If you would like assistance with booking these, we are more than happy to help.
Nelson enjoys a moderate sub-tropical climate, which means you can expect sunny, warm temperatures averaging 22C/72F in Summer (December to February) and 13C/55F in Winter (June to August). The Nelson region has one of the highest number of sunshine hours in the country due to its geography, so there is a good chance of a sunny day! One thing we cannot book for you is the weather, and sometimes bad weather will prevent the ability for the yacht to sail or for a helicopter to fly to your destination. The decision of whether or not we can go to your destination will often be made the day before, or on the day, and so we ask as a condition of booking with New Zealand Wedding Packages, that couples accept this possibility. If we cannot go to your booked destination there are several options:
1. We can wait and reschedule for the following day. Whether we can do this will depend on the availability of team members, the weather forecast and how long you intend to stay in the area.
2. We will take you to our indoor location, which will be the beautiful historic Melrose House in the heart of Nelson city. We will have exclusive use of the ballroom and any catering can be carried out there.
Where using the indoor location reduces the cost of the package, we will refund the difference.
If for some reason you need to cancel your booking with us, we will refund any money paid over and above your deposit. Unfortunately the deposit is not refundable as this helps cover some of the cost to vendors for bookings they may have turned away in order to reserve your date.
Wherever possible, Wedding Package team members will carry out the services for your wedding on the day. However, if you require a specific date, and a team member is not available, we may need to ask someone else to take their place. If this happens, we will always discuss this with you first and provide opportunity for another date if you wanted a specific person or vendor. For hair, makeup and flowers we will always choose vendors we consider to be the best in the region, and we will advise you as to whom we have chosen. Again, if you have a particular preference, we will aim to accommodate this.
Some of your photos will be available on Facebook within 48 hours of the wedding, and the rest of your photos will be available within 2 weeks. The photos will be in high resolution JPEG format and can be sent to you either on CD, Flash Drive, or online on services such as Dropbox.
You are welcome to make changes to the packages and locations to create your dream wedding and we will do all we can to accommodate your wishes. Please note that customisations may incur an additional planning fee.
You can pay either directly into our bank account in New Zealand or use our online Credit Card payment service at Paypal. We will provide full details at the time of booking. There is a 25% non-refundable deposit required at the time you confirm your booking and the remainder is due 2 weeks before your wedding date. You can pay by instalments during this time if you prefer.
We have our own safety plan which meets New Zealand government safety regulations and has been audited by Outdoorsmark, an independent safety auditor. We give safety a high priority and will ensure that we, and our vendors, provide the maximum safety standards to ensure that you can enjoy your wedding experience. We also tend to side with caution when it comes to the weather and will not fly or sail if conditions are unsafe or unpleasant.
